Naltabyte AB, an sweden based company has launched an AJAX powered online desktop, The design is based on the so called Ajax powered operating system - XIN, It is an online OS which makes it dead simple to create sophisticated interactive AJAX applications, using a simple standardized methodology, running ecma compatible javascripting on both the server and the client.
If you have a basic understanding of DHTML, you'll be fine for both clientside apps as well as advanced serverside apps without having to expand your skills any further.
You use the common openWin('filepath') to open applications to the desktop area from wherever the source xml is located, from anywhere on the web.
Images and resource-files are found relative to the original location of the app and are thus fetched along with the app.
There are several example apps included with the SDK, some are listed below.

Some features of XIN:
Xin is modular like no other web technology, and while you only need DHTML skills to get started with it, there's no upper limit to what you can create.
The 'plug_and_play' system that is Xin means that you can add or remove apps on the fly, and even fetch them from some other domain, perhaps on the other side of the world, and run them as if the where native to this server.
We challange anyone to find anything even remotly as powerful, multifacetted and simple as Xin to get started with and grow with.
Almost everyone knows something about DHTML, if they work with the web in any sense of the word.
