LogicBlaze fuses SOA, Ajax to LAMP with MySQL partnership
04/26/2006, By Ajax Impact News

LogicBlaze Inc. and MySQL announced an partnership that brings together many of the hottest commodities in IT: service-oriented architecture, LAMP stack development and Ajax.

LogicBlaze FUSE is the first and only SOA and Web 2.0 platform available as an Apache License 2.0 open source distribution, combining enterprise-class messaging scalability, performance and reliability with connectivity for a broad range of interfaces and transports, including native support for Perl, Python, Ruby and PHP. Also provided as an open source distribution, LogicBlaze FUSE for MySQL provides a lightweight, yet scalable infrastructure that brings enterprise messaging, integration and management capabilities to MySQL environments, bringing improved scalability, reliability and connectivity to application stacks built on the MySQL database platform.

LogicBlaze is touting its lightweight messaging capabilities as a good match for LAMP and Ajax projects connecting to MySQL. For Peterson a key concept is connectivity.

"An application based on LAMP or Ajax that provides access to the MySQL database environment doesn't need to be a silo," he said. "It can be a highly connected application. The FUSE platform is what we incorporate the ServiceMix into. The ServiceMix provides that kind of connectivity through a set of standard binding components and interfaces."

LogicBlaze FUSE incorporates the Apache Incubator's ActiveMQ, the leading open source messaging platform based on the Java Messaging Service (JMS) specification. ActiveMQ is an open source, easily deployed and extremely robust messaging system that provides a foundation for reliability and scalability in distributed computing environments, including the LAMP and Ajax application stacks. The heart of the LogicBlaze FUSE platform is the Apache Incubator's ServiceMix enterprise service bus (ESB), the leading open source integration solution based on the Java Business Integration (JBI) specification. ServiceMix provides the foundation for an open, standards-based SOA environment. Additionally, LogicBlaze FUSE enables high availability for Ajax applications through Jetty, its HTTP server, which leverages continuations to support high volume connections for Ajax-enabled interfaces.

"The MySQL database is a separate download because it is licensed under the GPL from MySQL, while our stack remains Apache 2.0," Peterson said. "But it's a fairly straightforward download."

For LAMP, Peterson said, FUSE provides native client support for Perl, PHP and Python, as well as Ruby, the popular scripting language which now is included in the LAMP model although it does not fit the acronym.
